attach to bridging

(OP)
The metal stud contractor has anchored his top of wall bracing to the open web joist bridging. I know SJI states you can't support MEP from bridging but are you allowed to brace walls below to the bridging?

Thanks,

RE: attach to bridging

The bridging is not likely strong enough for this task combined with its primary purpose.
Interior or exterior walls?

RE: attach to bridging

I'd say no. the contractor can prodivde their own angles or unistrut or something. Also, the bar joists will deflect, when they do is that wall going to load the bridging with some imposed displacement?

Will it make the building fall down? probably not.
Is it worth correcting to be accurate? I would tell them to fix it properly.
