Horizontal Loads on Trusses from Shop Drawings.

Horizontal Loads on Trusses from Shop Drawings.

(OP)
Working on a project with higher wind loads then I typically deal with. I am reviewing the truss shop drawings and I cant figure out if the max. horizontal loads at the reactions are in the plane of the truss or perpendicular to the truss in the plane of the wall. I know this is probably a elementary question but I need to make sure I have it right. The shops are in 2d and I believe they would be in the x direction along the plane of the truss. I wouldn't think these loads would be along the walls as those are from the roof diaphragm using MWFRS but I dont design trusses and I know their software is pretty slick.

RE: Horizontal Loads on Trusses from Shop Drawings.

Gotta be in plane I'd think.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

RE: Horizontal Loads on Trusses from Shop Drawings.

When in doubt, ask the shop.
