Multistage Pumps VS Sundyne Pump

Multistage Pumps VS Sundyne Pump

(OP)
Respected Sir,

I have a question regarding comparison between Multistage Pumps vs Sundyne Pump. I am asking generally not for specific parameters.

So Kindly provide your views on why Sundyne is good over multistage or vise versa. and comparison between these two.

If you have any presentation or document where i can refer this topic kindly provide.

Thanks & Regards,
Mitesh.

depends on many aspects of your application, a bit more info might help.

Thanks for the reply Artisi. May i know which information you required?

Lets talk specific -
Process parameters are as under.

Process fluid- light nephtha
Max temp - 150 C , Min temp - 52C
Viscosity - 0.56cP
flow - 27.1 me/hr
Head - 312.8
NPSHa - 16.96
Hy kW- 15.06

In the above case i have 4 offers from different pump manufacturer. In that 4 , 1 of them Sundyne.

Can anyone tell me shall i go for multistage or sundyne? (Efficiency or utility criteria do not consider as of now)

Regards,
Mitesh

Mitesh: I posed the question to open the discussion a bit further - - but this application is not my field of expertise so won't comment, however there are a number of people here who will be able to assist you.

RE: Multistage Pumps VS Sundyne Pump

I would suggest a search of this forum using the keyword "Sundyne". There are many threads related to these pumps.

I don't really understand why anyone is offering a multi-stage unit for such a small flow and head??

I don't think anyone can advise you here if you don't set out what criteria you're going to use to decide.

cost?
Reliability?
space?
Delivery?

This is like asking someone what kind of car you should buy...

to get a better response narrow down the issues a bit.

max 150C? MSDS data for naphtha says boiling point is 80.1F to 300F (26.72C to 148.89C).

Thanks for your valuable reply.

JJPellin : Sir i already search "Sundyne" in this forum but i did not get specific difference between sundyne vs multistage pump.

Once again I am clarify my query. I just want to know which is the better option multistage or sundyne.

Kindly provide your views with specific reason.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Multistage Pumps VS Sundyne Pump

I would prefer a multistage pump for this application. I would expect the multistage pump to have better reliability, higher efficiency, a wider acceptable operating range and easier maintenance. I would prefer the standard mechanical seal arrangement. Portable vibration analysis is more effective with the multistage pump.

RE: Multistage Pumps VS Sundyne Pump

These would be my preferences for this application, in order from best to worst:

Pitot tube pump
Axial split multistage
Radial split (tie rod) multistage pump
Multistage overhung pump
Sundyne

JJPellin Thank you for your valuable reply.

Can you please provide me the details or reasons why you want to go for multistage pump over sundyne pump?

To all experts - I want to know which is good selection sundyne or multistage pump?

Thanks and Regards.

RE: Multistage Pumps VS Sundyne Pump

Mitesh87, consider yourself told by probably the expert on the use of multi-stage versus sundyne based on extensive plant usage.
You have had a reasonable explanation given, what more do you want.
