Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

(OP)
I work for a large company that has it's own font - which looks great. We are considering switching to that with our Models, Drawings and PMI.

As we become more model-based, our concern is that when we send our models out for manufacture, if the recipient supplier does not have our font (and they would not) how do we ensure they end up using it as we intend? Can it be embedded inside part files for automatic usage, or do we have to send the font to our suppliers so they have it installed on their machines for using all our stuff?

It can be done in other files. Anyone know how to do with CAD parts?

RE: Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

Don't believe it can be embedded, regardless of whether it's a True Type font (as you more than likely have it now) or whether you create a custom NX based font (which is a pretty difficult task). Either way, you'll have to supply your font file(s) to every person accessing your files.

No offense, but it's probably not the best idea when it comes to CAD, IMO - legibility might become an issue when things are printed out and not scaled 1:1.

If you send drawings for all files, just have a note on your title block that requires specific font usage and then provide that with each quote/file distribution.

RE: Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

I might be wrong, but I think NX automatically embeds any font that you use. That's why one of the part clean up options is "delete unused fonts". We can easily test this: can you post a test file with nothing but a few notes in it? I can post a screenshot of what it looks like when I open it.

RE: Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

We have seen an issue due to Arial Unicode MS not being included in Office 2016. There was an SFB issued recently about this. If the font is not installed on the machine I think NX will go through the font list until it finds one that is installed.

RE: Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

Ok, I was wrong about the font automatically being embedded. The NX file does not look like the pdf; when I queried the note, this is what I got:

RE: Embed Your Company Font into NX File?

It appears that the Inspira font is being displayed as Arial for users who don't have Inspira installed. Is it possible to have it displayed as a different font (such as Leroy) instead?
