EOR Responsibilities for Precast Roof System

EOR Responsibilities for Precast Roof System

EOR Responsibilities for Precast Roof System

What would you guys say is the EOR responsibilities for a double tee roof system? Particularly the connection design to a tilt up wall for diaphragm loads and out of plane wind loads on wall.

RE: EOR Responsibilities for Precast Roof System

Around here, it's likely that the double tees and the wall panels would be designed and fabricated by the same company, therefore we would typically specify the roof loading, and then the line loads from the diaphragm and out of plane loads. It's also likely that we would show some form of expected connection detail, but we would leave the actual connection specifications to the precast supplier.

I concur. Only difference here is that the walls will be site cast with wall designed by EOR. Trying to reduce cost as much as possible.

RE: EOR Responsibilities for Precast Roof System

In that event, I would say the EOR needs to provide adequate material for the connection of the precast tees, whether that is a continuous embed in the top of wall, or intermittent angles(which notoriously are placed incorrectly) that are designed for the out of plane and diaphragm loads. The precast designer should still be made aware of the required loading through his connection and he should design his embed plates accordingly.

That's what i was thinking and it seems like overkill but a continuous embed could prevent coordination issues in the field.
