no load in load combination

no load in load combination

no load in load combination

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I live in Indonesia, a tropical country in SEA which for some reason adopted ASCE 7-10 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other".
I just want to ask some basic principle of load combination. Let's say that my structure has a negligible rain load (6 m x 12 m barn with no roof drainage system). So should i exclude just the rain load or the whole load combination?

RE: no load in load combination

If the load is very small then, by observation, you know the load combination with the rain probably won't control. We might exclude the rain case in the combination but include the combination with the other loads.
