what is the conductivity value for the chilled water ac system??. and please provide me with the reference code and standard that determine the chilled water quality (PH, conductivity, etc.)

I appreciate Your cooperation..

RE: cilled water quality

Look into the Water Treatment Specification if your company doesn't have one google it, I suggest you also add side stream filtration.

RE: cilled water quality

You can also get in touch with a water treatment contractor (the facilty may alredy have one) and get a sample spec for you to modify/update as required.

thanks mr. lilliput1, but my question is(what are the approved values of the water sample analyses and based on witch code)??

I appreciate Your cooperation..

RE: cilled water quality

My experience has been to use regular potable water. pH of 5.0-8.0.
Chemical feed/treatment is used to maintain the Ph and minimize fouling.
To use any kind of de-ionized or purified water in a CHW system is bad for the system. De-ionized or purified water will leach material out of the steel and copper pipes and tubes.

RE: cilled water quality

I have never seen a code for chilled water quality.

True, highly purified water will do that, but use of single-stage RO water is very common where hardness is high.

RE: cilled water quality

As others have said, there is no code that I know of. The system designer needs to specify. Many hydronic boiler and chiller systems have PH value of 10 or higher. The newer aluminum boilers, however, cannot tolerate PH that high. Those systems need to be kept lower at 8 or 7 depending on the manufacturer.

So I don't think you are going to find a code dictating a value.
