National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

Can anyone send me a copy of the 1967 National Building Code snow load provisions? I am checking a roof for new ventilation fans and the current snow loads (drift and rain on snow surcharge) are not working very well.

RE: National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

What are you looking for in particular? I may be able to help you out, but I doubt the code will as it hasn't changed much.

I am looking for roof snow load provisions used in Kentucky at the time. I am evaluating replacement fans and the current snow load requirements such as drift, rain on snow surcharge and I*p I suspect are pushing up the snow loading. Code wise I only need to consider the original design snow load so that is what I am trying to find.

RE: National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

Oh, I thought that would have been the IBC. I have the national building code of Canada. Is there even snow in Kentucky?

In northern Kentucky it is 20 psf ground snow load, it is a rare event.

RE: National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

I believe I have the 67 UBC at the office, but that was primarily used in western states. lemme know if you'd like me to check.

Is UBC the same as the National Building Code which I think was part of BOCA at the time? Regardless if you don't mind sending the snow load provisions it would at least give me some frame of reference for that time period.

RE: National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

will do

RE: National Building Code 1967 - snow loading

The UBC is not the same as the National Building Code.

UBC put together by ICBO (International Council of Building Officials)
National Bldg Code put together by the American Insurance Association.
