Tensile test using abaqus

Tensile test using abaqus

(OP)
Hello,
Im a trainee and i really need your help guys. im doing a tensile test simulation with abaqus using an inp file written by a collegue (not abaqus).
we apply a velocity at a node called " master ". Then we affect an amplitude to this velocity. I don t know what the relation between this velocity and amplitude. U can find the amplitude used and velocity in inp file attached.
What do 10 represent in the inp file?
Also i don t understand why we are using " *TIME POINTS " if u can enlighten me please.
U can also find Test specification attached.

Thanks in advance, i will really appreciat your help.

RE: Tensile test using abaqus

Hello,

It seems like you are very new to abaqus and it would be better if you send screenshot of your problem.. Amplitude is used for applying load scaling. For example if you use 'Tabular' in amplitude you can scale velocity. if the velocity you entered is 10m/sec and your simulation time is 1 second. And if you set (time, amplitude) as (0,0 ; 0.5, 0.5 ; 1, 1) in the table where comma represents time and amplitude to be entered on first row and semicolon for next column. Then your velocity at time 0 is 0 , at 0.5 sec its 5 m/sec and at 1 sec its 10m/sec. Hope this helps
