1960's Flexicore Hollow Core Slab 1'-4"x8" Safe Load Tables

Does anyone have the safe load tables for Flexicore hollow core slab panels made in the 60's? The building was built in 1966.

Thanks for the file. The size I am looking was not in there. I found some similar data for flexicore hollow core but it was for the 2' wide variant. I am still struggling to find anything for the 16" width.

I may have some info on 16" wide X 8" thick Flexicore planks. Let me check my library and I will get back to you ASAP

That would great! Thanks

RE: 1960's Flexicore Hollow Core Slab 1'-4"x8" Safe Load Tables

I checked my old copies of PCI Design Handbook - going back to the 1st Edition (1971) - and there are no load tables for any hollow-core products. They started load tables in the 2nd Edition, but all based upon 4' equivalent width planks.

I also checked out 'archive.org' that has a digital library of old books/catalogs etc - nothing there for Flexicore load tables.

I think you will be back to first principles - do some invasive probing and scanning to determine strand diameter and # strands per 16" wide plank, and knowing the section properties develop your capacities from scratch - make some relevant assumptions for f'c and fpu.

Above graphic is from PCI 1st Edition for Flexicore planks - similar to JAE's PCI link.

RE: 1960's Flexicore Hollow Core Slab 1'-4"x8" Safe Load Tables

Found a Flexicore load table from 1958 in accordance with ACI 318-56:

A bit hard to read, so see attached PDF copy.

Unless you definitively know your tensile steel area (and/or have existing precast shop drawings) you are still going to have to verify your 'as-built' conditions via invasive probing etc.

Thanks for sharing this info.

We should get slideruleera to post this on his website.

Good idea, JAE.
