Truncated AISC Section List

Is there a short list of most commonly used rolled steel sections? I'm putting together a small program and want to restrict it to about 100 members.

RE: Truncated AISC Section List

I think AISC occasionally publishes shape availability lists. Not sure if they would necessarily match your particular locale. You could also try calling local steel fabricators.

RE: Truncated AISC Section List

The common ones, as you know, are those that are most efficient assuming no LTB issues. The bold font ones in the AISC manual. I think that you could arrive at that list yourself with some intelligent sorting performed on the entire list which can be procured from AISC for free. I have a copy of your your instantaneous center of rotation fastener app on my 'puter. I know you're up to the task.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
