A Primer in Blast Resistant Building Design

A Primer in Blast Resistant Building Design

A Primer in Blast Resistant Building Design

(OP)
Hi all

A recent mentoring session with a new engineer spawned a discussion on the concepts of blast analysis of structures. In our session we discussed concepts of blast loads, single degree of freedom (SDOF) analysis and development of finite element models.

I wrote a blog post to document our mentoring discussion. I've included necessary charts, tables and figures as well references to some worked examples and publicly available design documents.

I think its a great primer, to help new engineers understand underlying principles of blast analysis and its application within an FEA software package.

Might be worth a read, comments very much appreciated

Thanks!
