Parts that are Mirror images of eachother
Parts that are Mirror images of eachother
(OP)
I'm currently designing a pair of pressure tapping manifolds which are mirror images of eachother.
I can create one part from the other by mirroring it through one of its faces and cutting the original part away. This gives me the correct geometry, but changes in one part will not be reflected in the other.
Is there a better way to create pairs of parts like this? I'm also wondering whether the 2D drawings of both parts can be created simultaneously. Any help would be much appreciated.

RE: Parts that are Mirror images of eachother
For any change modify the master model and regenerate.
A good idea may be creating the part as a family table with two instances (left and right).
Good luck!

RE: Parts that are Mirror images of eachother
2-Use COMPONENT/CREATE/MIRROR PART and enter a name, say RIGHT.
3-Pick the new part as REFERENCE (LEFT and RIGHT are updated and linked) or COPY (LEFT and RIGHT and independant).
4-Pick the PART and then pick a datum plane as the mirror surface. WARNING>>Pick a datum plane from the LEFT part only, not from the assembly. This way, the mirrored part only references itself.
5-Now open the RIGHT part and delete the assembly.
Now you have a LEFT and RIGHT.
This is the best way to do this, I have been teaching this method for a few years now and it works great.
