Crude oil storage in concrete tanks

Crude oil storage in concrete tanks

Crude oil storage in concrete tanks

Hi everyone
Any experiences with crude oil in reinforced concrete storage tanks?

RE: Crude oil storage in concrete tanks

Usually need to be either steel lined or fibre glass / epoxy lined.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

RE: Crude oil storage in concrete tanks

It requires either lining or coating, otherwise the oil may be leaking through the concrete wall, causing the environmental impact.

LI and MK
Thank you for answering
Next question is: anyone erected a concrete crude oil tank with 300ft dia and 50 ft hight? Could be cheaper in the long run than a steel traditional tank?

RE: Crude oil storage in concrete tanks

It's been done:

Conventional concrete tanks are prone to leakage issues, typically have leakage tolerances in the specifications.
With water tanks, that's usually a cosmetic problem, sometimes becomes more serious.
There aren't any API specifications for concrete tanks, if that's a requirement.
