What is the most suitable type of structure to support this building?

Hi all. I came across with this building design and was curious about how the structure will work :http://www.archdaily.com/438642/central-mosque-of-... Considering that there is no intermediate columns exists in the middle of the space itself.
Is there any kinds of structure that can support the ceiling of the building?

RE: What is the most suitable type of structure to support this building?

Several ways... could be treated as a 3 pin arch with 'flying buttress'... matter of knowing what the cross-section looks like.

Could you sketch the structure? I am not sure how the structure looks like.

RE: What is the most suitable type of structure to support this building?

We can't see the top, but it looks like potentially a grid of very deep arch or beam sections. Lots of potential for strength there.

RE: What is the most suitable type of structure to support this building?

Maybe trusses wrapped in gyp board?

Waffle structure, either concrete waffle slab or steel trusses.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

RE: What is the most suitable type of structure to support this building?

If it's open to the air above, that's a really annoying diaphragm design.

RE: What is the most suitable type of structure to support this building?

Just a series of interlocking cast concrete wall-beams.
