injecting steam in fuel gas line of boiler

injecting steam in fuel gas line of boiler

Dear All
Recently an Interviewer asked me that if we inject steam in fuel gas line(Natural gas) of boiler then what will happen. Whether efficiency of boiler increase or decrease

RE: injecting steam in fuel gas line of boiler

what did you tell him?

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

RE: injecting steam in fuel gas line of boiler

What's the purpose of such inquiry? Steam has been used in atomizers for the combustion of heavy fuels such as Bunker "C" in order to have a finesse of the oil particles to a suitable for efficient combustion. In the case of natural gas, you deal with a gaseous state and not particles of fuel. I suspect one of the things that would happen is not getting the ideal flame shape that is need to burn efficiently gaseous fuels thereby creating an unsafe condition within the fire box.

I Don't think you got the job.

RE: injecting steam in fuel gas line of boiler

Boiler efficiency would decrease - you would be having to waste energy heating the steam you are injecting and then sending out of the stack (meaning less heat going to the tubes). As Chicopee points out, atomizing steam is typically used for burning oils, but even in that case, the steam is carefully tuned to ensure you aren't introducing an excessive amount for the same reason.

This is the problem when MBAs conduct job interviews !!!!
