Bolt Hole sizes in existing plate exchanger too large.
Bolt Hole sizes in existing plate exchanger too large.
(OP)
The bolt hole sizes in the existing plate exchanger on site are close to 2". We assume that this was specified to be bearing on concrete with standard anchor-rod holes in the base plate, however we are connecting to a W10X49. We feel as though drilling the same sized hole in the W10X49 would compromise the strength of the member. We need to specify a solution to reduce the hole size on the exchanger. 4 of the bolts are slotted holes. Have you guys encountered this before and what solutions have you done to fix this?

Then use washers to cover top side of holes. Reduces bolt size to 1.25" or 1.375".
