Swing Bus?

Swing Bus?

Swing Bus?

(OP)
Hi all,

I am currently working on a consulting project concerning stability sudies of a small electrical grid. One of the gas turbine generators is assigned to a so-called "swing bus" - and as I am a mechanical engineer and not an electrical engineer, I have no clue what this swing bus could be. Any ideas?

RE: Swing Bus?

kaspar, you're on the wrong forum for this; it really has nothing to do with heat transfer.  However, to provide a basic answer to your question, a swing bus is one that can provide power to either of two separate divisions, usually through a control and isolation logic.  Whenever one division is getting power, the other has to be isolated, in order to maintain separation in accordance with IEEE standards.  If you want to learn more, you'd need to go to an electrical forum and ask.  Hope this helps!
