Moment from Column and Pile Cap

Moment from Column and Pile Cap

Moment from Column and Pile Cap

(OP)
Dear All,

A query. Does pile cap take moment from column? The situation here is to design a footing for cantilever car park roof. From what I learnt, pile cap does not take moment from column; only axial loads.

Thanks.

RE: Moment from Column and Pile Cap

Of course a pile cap can take moment if designed as a moment resisting element.

RE: Moment from Column and Pile Cap

It will have a lot to do with the anchor bolt layout, the design of your pile cap and the connection between the pile cap and the piles.
