Design of triangular stiffeners for a silo's bolted flanges
Design of triangular stiffeners for a silo's bolted flanges
(OP)
Dear all,
I'm looking for guidance on the design of triangular stiffeners. They are needed for a bolted flange for a silo, which was built with less than the necessary thickness on the flanges. I would normally do a conservative design for small projects, but this one is not so small and I was also wondering how would you approach it and if there is any guides out there.
See attached sketch.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards.

My analyses tell me the bolts are OK but the flange thickness is not sufficient. Steel is AISI 316L (sy=170 MPa). There is packing between the plates.
