Stress Paths in APDL

Stress Paths in APDL

(OP)
Searched this site for info on how to find the stress along a path within a body using ANSYS APDL and still none the wiser.
I need to use APDL rather than workbench because I am developing a python script that should hopefully conduct and record my analyses automatically. My model is rather basic structure with bolt running down centre, key dimensions alter with each analysis. I want to find stress at midpoint of the bolt so figured a stress path would be best?

Could someone advise me how best to go about this please?
Thankyou

Thank-you for the tutorial. It is very helpful, however I wish for my program to run automatically accounting for geometry changes such as bolt length change. This would mean manually changing one of the y coordinates.
Is there a way that I can give a start coordinate and an 'until end of body' or 'through all' type end point?
Thanks

RE: Stress Paths in APDL

Could you post a picture of the setup which shows the variables and the path?

Certainly. It is a simply bolted flange type arrangement
My apologies for the poor quality sketch, all I can give at the time. The stress path shall be along the bolt length, I am interested in the value at the midpoint of the threaded part of the bolt

There are many variables that change, hence why entering co-ordinates is not ideal.

Thanks

Perhaps try building parameters that depends on start coordinate and an 'until end of body' that can be used in PPATH's XYZ arguments.

Best regards,
Jason

If you want a small number of points I have found using the *Get command and select the node wish you want to start at, and adding a certain amount on every *Get command you use is the easiest for a novice.
