hi guys,

how can I substitute concrete column existence in Ram Elements??
can I use hinge support instead??

RE: connecting steel beam to concrete column by using RamElements

just change the section and material properties. If you are detailing the connection to no transfer moment, you can use a hinge support instead. What are you trying to model exactly?

I have steel beams connected to concrete columns from side and steel columns from other side...Its member design not connections.
is it okay to use hinge support at the node connected to concrete?

RE: connecting steel beam to concrete column by using RamElements

As long as the connection is detailed to not transfer moment, a hinge support in your model can be used.
