weldability of A234 pipe fittings

weldability of A234 pipe fittings

(OP)
ASTM A234 WPB pipe fitting have a Cmax content of 0.3 and a Ceq of 0.66 corresponding to the max range of the constituents. There are specs requiring the C content limited to 0.23 and Ceq to 0.42 so as to provide weldability. Will the weldability become a problem if the C content comes close to the upper ranges of the WPB constituents.

RE: weldability of A234 pipe fittings

No, preheat and hydrogen control of weld rod become necessary to avoid delayed cracking.
