Regarding base Plate and Anchor bolt design Software.

Regarding base Plate and Anchor bolt design Software.

(OP)
Dear All,

I am looking for a software which can design Base plate with Anchor bolts. I am Working in space frame so here we have to support some ball joint or mediator (half Solid sphere) on base plate. Most of the software are having I section or box section as columns on base plate. Is there is any software for base plate and anchor bolt design in which I can use any structural section like I section, Solid Circular, pipe , tube etc any shape as column? It should considered Bi axial moment also. And some time I have to use different shape of base plate like L-shape, C shape with through bolts passing through slab or beam. For reference I had Attached some images also. Please advice if anybody knows software to analyze and design such base plates.

RE: Regarding base Plate and Anchor bolt design Software.

The simpson anchor program will do your baseplate calcs for you I believe. I normally run them by hand regardless, but I've been told it will perform the calc for you.

RE: Regarding base Plate and Anchor bolt design Software.

Hilti PROFIS is probably the best free software out there. You have to be careful on fixed connections or columns with high uplift or gravity loads since it doesn't actually check the baseplate for flexure, but it lets you input a plate thickness which is somewhat deceptive.

If you do a lot of baseplate designs I would also consider purchasing RAM connection as it will check plate flexure which can be rather complicated to check by hand. Not sure if it checks plate thickness for gravity loads but that's a pretty simple hand check.

Dear jayrod12,

Mostly I am also doing with excel prepared by us, but most of the time we have to Submit our calculation to Consultants and some times they are having some doubt in manually and they are asking for some software calculations.
I will check simpson anchor program Also, but i think in this Structural member which is connected to base plate is not possible to model. I will check in if i get some trial version. Thanks for Reply.

regards,
Iquk

Dear dnvl,

when we are using Hilti bolts we are using Hilti PROFIS Software. The issues is of Embedded bolts. Also in RAM connection I, H, Pipe and RHS are only possible to model. We have a solid circular shape sitting on Base plate. I will check Statica and simpson anchor program. Thanks for Reply.
