SAP2000 to LS-Dyna

(OP)
Hi,
I have the following question.
I have done a model of a building, just the frame in SAP2000. I have applied UDL loads on the beams. I want to export this model into LS-Dyna.
I saw that into LS-Dyna I can import STEP and IGES files. From SAP2000 I can export the same file types. I tried that but the step file doesnt open and the IGES file crashes LS-Dyna.

The version of LS-Dyna that I am using is 4.1. Does anyone have an answer on how this problem can be solved?

I have attached the igs file.

RE: SAP2000 to LS-Dyna

I'm not sure, however neutral formats aren't always stable between softwares in my experience. If you have any other software that opens those file types available to you perhaps you can try to open them in that then save out again and try it from that software.

RE: SAP2000 to LS-Dyna

Try again with the IGES file. I was able to import it in to LSPREPOST version 4.5 and see your space frame.

I also tried using ANSYS/LSDYNA workbench. This didnt work and it crashed.

See attached file from LSPREPOST
