Rebar Welding

Rebar Welding

(OP)

I have some questions about the welding electrode.
When I weld A706, Gr 60 rebar to A36 bearing plate, I think I can use E70 electrode.
If I replace the bearing plate with A706 rebar, should I use E80 to weld rebars according to AWS1.4 Table 5.1?
Is there any way to use E70 electrode like increasing welding size?

I am looking forward to your input!

Thanks!

RE: Rebar Welding

E7018's should work... have to make sure your rebar is weldable.

RE: Rebar Welding

Call everyone!....call the EOR, AWS, PCI, if precast, ACI if not, is the structure for a public agency?,...call the agency, they probably have internal requirements as well. I think PCI says no 70ksi rods,....even though they used to allow 70ksi rods but you had to lay down more weld to get your capacity. I didn't help one bit.

RE: Rebar Welding

SSH... but, it was a funny response...
