Effect of Lime sitting on Concrete Surface

Effect of Lime sitting on Concrete Surface

(OP)
Hello, I'm designing a concrete base slab to be used for a lime silo and I started wondering about the effect of crushed lime sitting directly on the concrete surface. The reason I'm considering this is since lime can be used as an additive prior to curing, but I was wondering if there would be any type of chemical reaction between the materials after the concrete foundation has cured. Any thoughts?

RE: Effect of Lime sitting on Concrete Surface

Not a problem. We used lime in stabilization of coal-fired electric generation station Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) waste products. In the process, plenty of lime was deposited on the concrete foundations for both the lime silos and equipment building.

Agree with SRE....no issue.

RE: Effect of Lime sitting on Concrete Surface

If you ever get a chance to visit a lime kiln at a paper mill that stuff coats every surface. Zero deterioration of the concrete due to lime.
