Hand book for shell and tube exchangers (Thermal calculation)

Hand book for shell and tube exchangers (Thermal calculation)

(OP)
Dear all,

I am very much interested on Thermal calculation for shell and tube heat exchangers. Basicaly i am working as mechanical engineer in oil and gas field. If any hand book available for shell and tube exchangers, please let me know.

Thank you all.

RE: Hand book for shell and tube exchangers (Thermal calculation)

I don't know what you mean by "thermal calculation", but any textbook on process heat transfer will teach the basics on how to form the overall and specific parts of the energy balance.

Process Heat Transfer by Serth / Lestina, is a good book. It is more HTRI focused, but has some good sections on heat exchangers in general. It depends on what you want to the heat exchanger to do though!

RE: Hand book for shell and tube exchangers (Thermal calculation)

It may be a bit dated, but ASM publishes "Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers" ISBN 0-87170-145-6 .
They also publish "Heat Transfer in Process Engineering"

Heat Transfer Hand Book published by Begell House, Inc

RE: Hand book for shell and tube exchangers (Thermal calculation)

If you are looking for something to purchase rather than fabricate, tube and shell companies often have excellent calculation walk-throughs with coefficients provided for their specific materials. American Industrial comes to mind.

I used to count sand. Now I don't count at all.

Vinothsvk,

The best heat exchanger handbook of all time has to be Heat Exchanger Design Handbook by Kuppan Thulukkanam and I have been referring to this handbook all my years and it is compact and informative.

Hope this helps
