2400V Motor Starter

2400V Motor Starter

2400V Motor Starter

(OP)
Hello,
I have a reduced voltage motor starter that is manually operated by a handle, pull to start when at speed release to run position.  This is for a 2400 V, 3 ph, 60 hz, 61 hp motor.  This system is most likely 75 - 80 years old.
Does anyone know of modern starters for a 2400 V motor?
Thank you in advance

RE: 2400V Motor Starter

ab.com's site seems on the fritz right now, but search there for 5kV-class magnetic starters.  Also, squared.com

Does the manual starter have oil immersed contacts?  Does the bell still ring indicating it’s time for start-to-run-transition handle jerk?

Busbar is right about the AB starter.  It is a type 1512.

I'm not sure, but I think SqD had stopped making 5kV starters.  The old SqD was a RPR-2, but I don't believe it is available any more.  (Busbar do you know???)

If your looking for a 5kV soft-start you may want to look at this link:

My personal experience with Benshaw is they are quick with deliveries and support what they sell.

Cutler Hammer (Ampguard), General Electric (Limitamp), ABB, and Joslyn also make medium voltage starters using vacuum contactors.

d23 — Sorry; I'd done a buncha' cable testing in some Square-D 4160V MCCs, but it's been awhile.  I'm not up to date on their MV products.

The company I work for use to offer both the SqD an AB MV starter.  I was told inhouse that SqD does not make MV starters any more.  I was asking the question about SqD because I don't know that for a fact.  Both starters are quality equipment.

WBD:

A 2.4KV starter can be custom designed according to your needs. This includes available space, available power, cable entry/exit, and protective equipment.
