Australian Steel Standards Grades and Sections
Australian Steel Standards Grades and Sections
(OP)
I am soon to be looking at a project in Australia, which will be designed in the U.K., to US standards and fabricated in Australia. Such is the nature of offshore projects.
We typically use sections and grades available locally. So in the UK this would be sections to BS4 and BS EN 10210. Steel grades commonly used would be S355G8+N to BS EN 10225 and S355J2+N to BS EN 10025.
What would be the equivalent standards in Australia?
Secondly, we might be considering jumbo RHS/SHS. Are thes available in Australia and up to what size?
I don't know where this will be fabricated, but I assume Western Australia Somewhere.
Thanks.

And maybe this, but like RE, I don't know what you mean by jumbo. 400x300 and 400x400 are commonly available, if you order them in time.

By Jumbo I mean SHS up to 800 x 800 x 60, and RHS up to 750 x 500 x 40. Tata Steel manufacture these in Europe.

The only why I could see these being made in Aust is thru welling of flat plate, you would need to find a fabricator well setup for this, which maybe difficult as most of the fabricators I know wouldn't have the jigs read to go and I am assuming you will be using 15m long flat plate.
