Shear Lug concrete shear

Shear Lug concrete shear

Shear Lug concrete shear

(OP)
Hi,
I have question regarding concrete shear in front of the lug. I have a pier which is 2’x2’ and the shear lug is 1’ wide. I have a concrete wall on both sides of pier which is 1’ tick. The size of the pier is not sufficient for concrete shear of lug. I am relying on the wall attaching to pier for concrete shear area, even though the 45 angle spreads farther out. I have shaded the concrete area which I am using for the concrete shear. Please let me know if any concerns. I looked everywhere for these conditions but I could not find any resources.
Thanks

RE: Shear Lug concrete shear

The load from the shear lug will go straight into the wall because the wall is significantly stiffer than the fanned out portion of the pier. Consider how it would work if your pier was the same thickness of your wall. You would be left with a short compression strut to transfer the load from the shear lug to the wall.
