Cannot select edges in Section View

Cannot select edges in Section View

Cannot select edges in Section View

(OP)
I created a section view and I need to dimension the angles of the countersink hole but I am unable to select the edges. I read that there is an "Extracted" button under the "Style" menu that needs to be turned on but I can't find that icon in NX 9. Anybody have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?

RE: Cannot select edges in Section View

Make sure the section is on the centerline of hole, otherwise the countersink edge will be a spline.

I sometimes find the "2 points" method of creating angular dims useful in situations like this.

RE: Cannot select edges in Section View

If your section isn't perfectly perpendicular to the hole, the resulting "lines" will not be lines.
neither if the section isn't through the centerline of the hole.
Press "Ctrl + i" then select the objects you expect to be lines.
The information window will tell the type of geometry you have.
The Angular dimension will by default only snap to "true lines", not very flat splines etc.
Either correct the view / section, or use "vectors and objects" and define the vectors to dimension.

Tomas

RE: Cannot select edges in Section View

Jashe,

Make use of Vectors and Objects option under angular dimesension.

Vishnu
