Wiring PV inverters longer than maximum allowable cable length

Wiring PV inverters longer than maximum allowable cable length

Wiring PV inverters longer than maximum allowable cable length

(OP)
I am new to MV photovoltaic inverter wiring.

I came to know that the cable length from inverter to distribution panel is limited by manufacturer recommendations (to limit capacitance connected to inverter electronics and thus the capacitive current and induced overvoltages at receiving end).

How to avoid this constraint? if for an installation, the inverter is located away from the distribution panel with a distance exceeding the maximum allowable distance?

I have noted that manufacturer recommend using a bigger CSA cable, however, this means a higher capacitance? *Confused*!! (I believe that the manufacturer looked at the voltage rise/buildup not the cable capacitance limitation).

Any clues?

A small reactor (inductance) keeps fast PWM edges from the cable. You will need a parallel (not series)damping resistor to avoid ringing that will heat the reactor core(s). A transformer serves same purpose in many cases. But is more expensive.

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

Would the reactor be placed at inverter side?

Yes, output. Between inverter and cable.
