Static wheel load

Static wheel load

Static wheel load

(OP)
How to model a static wheel load?Do we have to create a separate part in the shape of contact area of tyre and then make in contact with the pavement and then apply load?

RE: Static wheel load

Is the wheel load moving or not?
Better to create a rigid body having same size of tire and attach it to the surface of pavement using *Tie constraint; if wheel load is moving then u need to have an amplitude which moves the wheel load along the specified coordinates at increments of time. In that case, use normal boundary condition restrain and only release DOF in the direction of movement.

Thank u friend.i was talking of static load.i will try to implement your solution.should we use rigid 3d or 2d for the wheel?
And for the model of a concrete plate on base should we use abaqus standard or explicit in the mesh element type?and the temperature of surfaces are to be applied in a coupled temperature displacement step i think?i will need to release the weight of the slab so for that we create a separate step static general or it can be applied on the coupled temperature displacement step only?waiting for your reply friend

RE: Static wheel load

2D is better assuming the width size of tyre is 0.4*0.2 as per code (so no thickness needed)
do w implicit if not convergint then go for Explicit.
U can combine as many step as you want depending on the nature of ur analysis, I think it's better o have the self weight and then apply the tem load after or together with deal load (again it depends on ur analysis purpose).
