reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire

reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire

hii all
i am modelling a reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire in its "tension side" on abaqus finite element. all what i have from experimental work is compressive strength of concrete, yielding stress of steel and time-temp curve.
so what should i use for material properties " conductivity, specific heat, young modulus.."?
and what should it be the interaction between concrete and steel also what is the heat coefficient (convective coefficient) should it be use?
thank you...

RE: reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire

First....not everything can be accurately modeled in FEA!

Next, you need to know the temperature and duration of the fire so that you can estimate the effect on the concrete. The depth of carbonation that exists after the fire has a significant effect on the concrete properties at that level, which is quite close to the tension steel on the bottom.

You have a lot of variables that have to be considered, as you've contemplated. Each is important. The concrete properties, if the fire was sufficiently hot and of a duration of more than an hour, will reduce most if not all of the strength characteristics of the concrete. The steel will be less affected than the concrete.

thank you a lot ron
do you have any idea of what will be the interaction between concrete and steel. (conduction and convection)
thanks in advance

RE: reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire

The information you are asking for is beyond the scope of this site.

If you are going into that sort of detail on your analysis/design, you should have access to this data or know where to find it.

thank you a lot guyss.. it is an important article
sorry, just one question could anyone help me to define the interaction between concrete and steel in abaqus software , is it necessary to define thermal conductance and film condition ??
best regards..

RE: reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire

dik,

Someone doing this level of analysis for fire should not be asking for that level of advice here!

If you are doing that level of analysis, you need a very good background in fire design and should have a good understanding of the requirements and where to find such data. If you do not, you should not be attempting it without very experienced supervision to direct you. And this site does not provide that.
