Associated sketches

Associated sketches

(OP)
Using NX10.

I have a very simple model with three features. The first is a simple extruded rectangle with an embedded sketch. The other two features are simple extruded shapes subtracted from the first. The subtracted excursions have nothing to do with each other, but for some reason the sketches are associated. When I change the sketch orientation of the first, the second sketch also changes. Any idea? Thanks.

RE: Associated sketches

Where did you attach the second sketch to? if it is a face from the extrusion resulting from the first sketch, then it will show this behavior indeed.
Second sketch has a reference to first extrusion which has a reference to first sketch.

For the two subtractions, I just selected the top face of the first extruded rectangle to create sketches.

RE: Associated sketches

Yep...so if you change the orientation of the first sketch, it will change the orientation of the extrusion, which will change your other sketches.

Ya,but when I change the second sketch the third changes.

RE: Associated sketches

Then there is an associativity between those two as well.
Difficult to say without having a look at the part itself. Can you upload it?
