I am building a preamp for bass-guitar and I am having a hard time finding documentation on how to make a variable frequency crossover circuit. The crossover is to split the output signal into a High band and a Low band to send to 2 different channels of a power amp. This will allow me to "Bi-AMP" the system using a speaker cabinet dedicated to the low frequencies and another for the high freqs.
I have played with the idea of having different modules that I could "plug in" with different filter networks on them, but I would really like to have a variable sweep from around 100Hz - 2KHz or so.
Anyone know of any circuits that I could base my circuit on? The variable control would idealy be a single POT.
Your "Bi-amp" circuit sure sounds like a 2 way "Sub Cross-over" from an automotive "Sub Cross". There are many models to choose from, and most are of the 18db-24db/octave design (Great for your application) Most have pot's for both cross freq's & gain for each (total of 4 pot's). The other nice thing, is they can be had Cheap ! I have one the son is using, and if memory serves correct, it was about $35.00....
P.S. simply use one side if it's a stereo unit.. :)
