NX CAM Feature Recognition/Teach Feature with a .stp file

NX CAM Feature Recognition/Teach Feature with a .stp file

(OP)
Hi all, we currently use Feature Based Machining in NX8.5 to program our designs. What we use are UDF's (cavities, ports, etc) that have feature names and parameters that are read into FBM. The only parameters that will change in the UDF's are a Drill Diameter and a Drill depth and a Spotface Depth. This has worked very well for us and we had an outside company write a .vb program to accomplish this. The dilemma we have now is that we need to figure out how to do this with a .stp file from a different CAD system. We've been told that we could possibly use the teach feature to be able to use FBM with these .stp files. We don't know exactly how to do this, or if we would need an outside company to set this up for us. Does anyone have some experience with this or any insight on being able to program a stp file with NX CAM?

Thanks so much.

RE: NX CAM Feature Recognition/Teach Feature with a .stp file

There is some form of feature recognition for CAM in NX. Search for find features or recognize...
