Choosing a workstation (PC) for use of Abaqus: Tips?

Choosing a workstation (PC) for use of Abaqus: Tips?

(OP)
Hello everyone,
I am new to the world FEM Abaqus and I need your help.
In the compnay where I work we deal with FEM simulations in the biomedical field. We need to evaluate the acquisition of Abaqus and I was asked to think of a workstation (computer) performing and suitable to perform FEM simulation smoothly.
What we shall do with Abaqus are mainly two kinds of simulations:
1) Opening simulation endovascular stent (not to study the physical-mechanical characteristics of the stent but only to see the response of the vessel during opening or closure of the stent, ex: compression of the coronary artery during the opening;

2) simulations of fluid dynamics in cardiovascular contexts.

Can you advise me about what kind of computer should I orient myself?
You have to link the case of online stores that sell this type of workstation so I can get an idea?
Thank you

RE: Choosing a workstation (PC) for use of Abaqus: Tips?

contact Simulia and ask them for a recommendation for a workstation. they should know better than anyone here. Also i would consider a different package for your fluid flow analyses. the cfd capabilities in abaqus are not on par with those of other commercial solvers like ansys or even open-source soltions like openfoam.

RE: Choosing a workstation (PC) for use of Abaqus: Tips?

Abaqus has dropped CFD functionality with the 2017 release and beyond. I know this because I purchased the software and a month later my sales man called and told me. Another thing to look out for is to see how many tokens your company has a license for, this will determine how many cpu cores you can use to solve a problem.

any idea why?
