NEW - Natural Gas Pipeline
NEW - Natural Gas Pipeline
(OP)
hello everyone,
first, i just want to say that the knolwdgw that i am getting it from this website is enormous. i want to thank you all.
my quiry is as follows:
if we have an existing pipeline (50 KM, 40 Barg, fuel gas) and we want to introduce a new pipeline with the same media. now, my question is, when we have such a situation as a pipeline or process engineer usually we conceder the diffrent of pressure to protect our pipelines. i just want to know whats the mechanisem of thinking that i should have when i counter such problem. i like to have a systematic thinking insted of having an experiance only.
thank you all,

RE: NEW - Natural Gas Pipeline
-Review the analytical/protection requirements that your design code(s) require.
-Review the customer requirements for the design.
-Apply any best practices that your internal processes require.
RE: NEW - Natural Gas Pipeline
Am not clear myself how mechanical design pressure and MAWP differ in the pipeline codes, for example. Also overpressure protection schemes on pipeline codes may use a high integrity trip system ( configured with 2 shutdown valves and 2 or 3 trip transmitters arranged in a 2oo3 voting system with a small PSV to handle valve leaks, while this would be a fullsized PSV in inplant facilities.
See the pipeline codes to see if there are guidelines to how overpressure protection is to be intepreted and confgured. This scheme should also match up with the overpressure protection scheme for the interface inplant facilities where this pipeline leads to.
