CATIA multi section surface

CATIA multi section surface

CATIA multi section surface

(OP)
Hello!
I am having problems with multi section surface command. I am modelling a charging cable handle with 6 profiles (blue) and 2 guidelines (green). I need the surface between profiles 1-3 to be completely tangent to guidelines. As you can see both guidelines are straight between profiles 1-3, but when I create reflect line (red), the surface is not tangent to guidelines (area in the orange elipse). Any ideas?

RE: CATIA multi section surface

check all your profiles for tangent continuity.

zoom in the area near the red in section 1: seems you have several face boundaries close to each others. if this is the case then make sure each section does have a vertex in the area and link vertices to each other in the multi section coupling option tab. Check online doc about multi section surface, they explain coupling option pretty well.

can you share your file?

RE: CATIA multi section surface

using coupling could solve the issue, you try and let us know

RE: CATIA multi section surface

you could also use the Deviation option to 'increase the quality' of your surface:

but still, there are problems.. you should look into the vertex coupling option but for that you'll have to change your section curves.

the surface is not tangent to guidelines

What is your definition of a surface tangent to a curve?

RE: CATIA multi section surface

you could sometimes get a better surface if you define a spine curve instead of using default option

Most often this:

is a sign of not good quality.

Thanks for the tips. I solved the problem.
