Dual Springs Safety Valve

Dual Springs Safety Valve

Dual Springs Safety Valve

(OP)
Hi everyone

Recently I saw a safety valve which has dual springs. There is an inner spring and outer spring. I have asked around about the purpose of such construction, unfortunately, I have not received a convincing answer.

Therefore, could someone who has an experience with this kind of valve, explain the use of inner and outer spring? Thanks.

Best regards

Aida

RE: Dual Springs Safety Valve

Either more force without using a large spring or redundancy.
The throttle return springs on cars were dual wound, for safety.

RE: Dual Springs Safety Valve

I've seen it done as a way of uprating the set pressure of an existing valve type (albeit a spring regulator rather than a safety valve) while maximising parts commonality with the rest of the range and fitting within the existing physical envelope.
