References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

(OP)
Hello Everyone,

Does anyone has a cheat sheet for quick reference for typical settings requirement for Protective relays. For 50/51 function coordination study is performed to obtain the settings. I am looking for a cheat sheet or a document for other typical protective functions like:

1. 25
2. 27
3. 46
4. 47
5. 59
6. 81
7. 87
8. 32
etc.

Typically IEEE color books will be refereed for these, I was just wondering if anyone has something handy atleast a list for which books to refer too.

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

How about the results from googling "ieee device numbers"?

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

Or look up IEEE standards at IEEE.org

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

Refer to IEEE C37.2 - Standard for Electrical Power System Device Function Numbers, Acronyms, and Contact Designations

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

MBrooke. is 96 not Ansi stnd for breaker fail?

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

ANSI code 95 through 99 are user-defined for use where the other codes don't cover the function. Not that I particularly agree with 50BF being a breaker fail - that one is a GE designation I think. The suffix letters are poorly defined in my opinion, for example 'G' is used for both Generator and Ground, sometimes on the same scheme.

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

Ah that makes sense. Thanks ScottyUK. yeah i noticed that too about GE and i think SEL also has a couple that are particular to them as well.

RE: References for Typical ANSI Standard Power Device Functions?

The ANSI standard does not define a standard usage for the suffices. Sometimes usage is in direct conflict. e.g. GE/Multilin vs SEL.
