Pump Shaft Rebuilding
Pump Shaft Rebuilding
(OP)
Hi All
I have a worn shaft of LPG Pump, which I am trying to rebuild with Belzona 1221 coating. The pump is a multistage centrifugal type, which will have a LPG suction pressure of 4 - 6bar and discharge pressure of 12 - 18bar. Is it advisable to go for rebuilding the shaft or should I go for replacement.

It appears that Belzona 1131 is the preferred product for protection of pump shafts at bearing locations.

@MJCronin: Belzona representative has suggested 1111 super metal.

If the repair lasts a couple of months then you will just put the new one in.
If it lasts a year then you are still ready. It is hard to tell with repairs like this how they will hold up.
