Water pipeline surge vessels

Water pipeline surge vessels

(OP)
I am about to get involved with the design or specification for a surge system.
First of course we will submit the system operating details and layouts to a specialist company.

However, what I would like to know more about is the design and construction for the surge vessels including the compressed air charging system.

We are pumping drinking water so materials have to be to the drinking water standards.

Are there any reports or texts explaining how this type of surge system works?

We are pumping 310 MLD

Many thanks,
John

RE: Water pipeline surge vessels

Agree with bimr - that post should give you a lot of good info (especially my responses winky smile) )

Surge is a curious thing that is very system dependant. First do the analysis then work out what is required.

Systems which prevent it in the first place are far better than mitigation measures after the event.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.
