Multiple Barrel Box Culvert
Multiple Barrel Box Culvert
(OP)
Hi,
I'm needing some help designing some culverts. I'm designing multiple barrel culverts formed by multiple single barrel culverts set side by side having the joint between them grouted, as in the following link:

Is having the culvert side by side situation worse than having a single barrel culvert under a determined fill height? I have already designed the simple barrel culvert, earth pressure on both sides, and would like to know if there´s any provision allowing to set the culverts side by side with no extra analysis. In case not, does anyone have some recommendations on how yo analyse, or hypothesis to be made on this situation?
Thanks!!

From "Concrete Culverts and Conduits", 1941:
A multiple barrel culvert will tend to collect debris at the partitions between the cells - more clean-out maintenance than a single barrel culvert.
