what step analysis is more appropriate?

what step analysis is more appropriate?

what step analysis is more appropriate?

(OP)
I have the time histories of six hub load components (3 forces and 3 moments) of a wind turbine. The turbine and the supporting structure have been modelled in a separate FE model which takes into account the dynamic of various components, i.e. supporting structure, hub and blades and the generator. The analysis was fully dynamic and coupled with the other components. However, the supporting structure in this software was approximated with beam elements (these are the only elements this software can support). I need to work out the stress time histories at any point on my structure to perform the fatigue analysis. I have modelled the supporting structure in greater detail in ABAQUS using solid elements. The supporting structure is made out of a reinforced concrete. I cannot work out the stresses for one time step and derive the subsequent stresses for the other steps by scaling like you would do if the structure were made of steel.

What analysis should I run in ABAQUS to obtain the stress time histories at any point on my structure? what step analysis is more appropriate?

Thank you for any suggestion.

RE: what step analysis is more appropriate?

I don't understand the question. You should know if you need a static or a dynamic step. And you should also know if you apply all loads in one step or in separate steps.

I have applied a dynamic implicit, quasi-static step. The 6 load components from the hub are applied simultaneously in the same step. Gravity is also added in the same step. However, once I solve my analysis I can't see stress outputs for each time step as specified in the time-histories as reported in the amplitudes feature in a table format. How can I interrogate ABAQUS about the stresses on my structure at 5sec. or at 8.55sec along my time-histories loads?

Thank you.

RE: what step analysis is more appropriate?

Check the Users Manual how often *Dynamic, Quasi-Static writes output by default. If that's not what you want, then overwrite that setting.

I solved the problem. Does anyone know how can I write the time-history of some parts to a text file? I know how to get all my data on XY plot but can't export them. I appreciate your help.
