Predicting WWT Pond Capacity
Predicting WWT Pond Capacity
(OP)
I have to rate the capacity of a 2 cell wwt pond op in parallel (res. waste only). There is little data available except est. in/outflows and size. Is there a way to predict sludge deposition per capita or time, for maint. work or should ww vol. req'd, be considered only? Moreover, I have not seen a designed sed. basin idea - only cells in series. Would a low area be useful to concentrate sed. for cleaning?
Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Predicting WWT Pond Capacity
You can have a separate settlement basin, or use your basins as either continuous or intermittent settlers. High settlement areas are usual to maximise SS removal. Concentration at removal is a factor of other considerations.
Sludge deposition will be a function of degree of treatment and incoming loads.

Also, check with you Department of Environmental Quality, or whoever licenses WWTP in you State or Province. They will have design criteria for facultative lagoons.
Are there no daily plant records or original design drawings and criteria for this plant? How can this be?
