Remove feature from non parametric model

Remove feature from non parametric model

Remove feature from non parametric model

(OP)
Hello,
I need guidance/direction to remove the feature(in blue colour). The data is non parametric and I tried using synchronous modeling but couldn't remove the desired feature.
Any help/ guidance would be appreciated

Thanks

Pratham,
Using NX 10.0.2.6

RE: Remove feature from non parametric model

In NX11 I managed to remove it...took some effort though.

In such complex cases I always start with an Optimize Face. Next I started to remove all the blends from the area I wanted to remove...Some of them you need to re-apply afterwards.
After that the rest wasn't that hard anymore. I find that Blends are usually the biggest issue for NX to repair...that's why I remove them first.

Hi

I Using nx8.5

Can you post the part(link) in step format (So I can try to it) Thanks

RE: Remove feature from non parametric model

By the way...I didn't use any new techniques. What I did is also possible in NX9 and NX10. Not sure about NX8.5 though

@ Ronald
thanks for the guidelines. It was very helpful.
I have come upto the below shown image, but when I try to replace the top & side faces so as to seal/ close the gap (to get a clean surface)I get a b surface error.
Can you help me with this?
Attached is the image.

@a984928
I've attached the stp file.

You still have some blends in the square holes on top. I didn't replace the top face...I deleted the side faces from the holes. NX will close the top face.

@Ronald
Thanks.
I removed all the blends around the feature I wanted to remove(on both upper & lower sides) but I still get b surface errors.
Is it possible for you to share the part you had worked on?

@a984928
Thanks, but that is not exactly what I needed. The blue features need to be removed completely as Ronald has shown in fist image( the blue rib seen is needed) and the gaps sealed/closed so as to make a seamless part which doesn't give hint that a (blue)feature(s) were present earlier .

Pratham,

Can you send the model you have now?

RE: Remove feature from non parametric model

Pratham thank you for notice me

The original model has three colors
Magenta,sky color,and blue color

I was naive and challenged to be closed to the
blue color.

Thank you again for the notice.

@ a984928
True, I was a mistake from my end as well. I had selected some faces and given it one shade of blue and selected another set of faces taking another shade of blue. I realized that later and generalized both the different shades of blues as blue in general.
Sorry for confusing you.

@Pratham

You send a completely different part than the first one..PLease check if it's the correct one you sent

Ronald,
The part which I sent you at first and next are the same.
Both are small part(split body) of a bigger part.
The first part was in original state while other is the part with most of fillets removed from the complete part.
Then I split part and extracted the body.

RE: Remove feature from non parametric model

Thank you for the explanation.

Do you always prefer working with unparameterized methods.
Using Synchronous methods.
Or this is a historical part.

It actually a part from catia, which was used earlier in our company. We have shifted to NX now...
