Re: another thread

Dik,
I have one of the IR attachments for my iPhone. Was a birthday present from my son! It works pretty well. I compared it to my higher resolution $20k FLIR camera and found it to be pretty good!

Just got back from an ACI Manitoba Chapter meeting and part of the discussion was using IR Imaging to detect delamination, voids, etc in Concrete construction. Pretty useful device.

RE: IR Imaging

I recently did a cursory review of those cell phone attachments and concluded that they do work but suffer in terms of accuracy and resolution. However, if you just need to visualize the surface temp of a building or electrical box or what not then they definitely appear worth it. I'd also recommend looking at bore scopes; the cell phone attachment versions are very cheap and in many ways better than the higher end bore scopes.

Thanks TME... it appears the FLIR One Pro that will be coming out in the next couple of months is quite good... waiting... borescopes are very useful addition to my kit. Also 'pocket microscope', I've used for years.

RE: IR Imaging

If I remember correctly the new FLIR One has been delayed for quite a while, hopefully they get it out soon. If you check on Amazon you can see a lot of good info and reviews. It appears the Seek camera is also good but has it's own limitations as well. I suppose that's what you have to work around when you're getting a $250 device in place of a $2,500 IR camera.

RE: IR Imaging

Did they say what the temperature range was? I recall that being one of the weaknesses of the earlier FLIR One version (goodness do they need better ways to distinguish between the two versions).

RE: IR Imaging

I wonder if you could hook this up to a google glass in some way? How cool (hot?) would it be to walk around casually with predator vision?
